A new vision for Millennium House. Australian Multicultural Community Services (AMCS) is undergoing a significant redevelopment project to upgrade the existing facilities of Millennium House to a multicultural community hub.

Plans for the centre, located at 296 Nicholson St, Seddon, VIC, 3011, are in response to a high need in Melbourne’s West for culturally inclusive community spaces and are guaranteed to provide a major impact on the community.

With these upgrades, AMCS aims to:

  1. Provide much-needed meeting spaces for multicultural communities which are both safe and culturally appropriate to actively engage in activities.
  2. Renovate a 1960s-built centre called Millennium House, and bring it up to 21st-century standards, returning it to a functioning and vibrant community hub.
  3. Provide office spaces to administer the centre and leverage AMCS’ capacity to support people from multicultural backgrounds including, seniors, newly arrived migrants, refugees, women, young people and children.

Construction on Millennium House started in February 2023 and hopes to be ready to welcome members of the Community in Mid – 2024.

Celebrating History

The Millennium House Community Centre has been the home and focal point for the Polish community of Western Melbourne since the early 1960s. Many thousands have used its main hall and have fond memories of significant life events celebrated there.

As such, Millennium House remains a significant symbol of the migrant history of Melbourne’s Western Suburbs. It powerfully demonstrates what can be achieved with determination, community goodwill and post-war self-reliance. The Polish Association of Kingsville and Ladies Auxiliary (PAKLA) gifted this substantial community asset
to AMCS and asked that it be repurposed for the community’s future use.

AMCS is committed to delivering on this mission and is now seeking to honour it for the entire community’s benefit.
